This Privacy Policy describes how The Godweight Archive ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information from visitors and registered users ("you," "users") of godweight.com and its affiliated services. By accessing this site, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

This policy applies to all interactions with godweight.com, including browsing, account creation, forum participation, voting, and use of the Librarian chat interface.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our site, we automatically collect certain technical information necessary for site operation and security:

• IP address (used for rate limiting and security)
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Pages visited and timestamps
• Referring URL

2.2 Information You Provide

When you create an account or interact with our services, you may provide:

• Username and display name
• Email address (for email/password accounts)
• OAuth profile information (name, avatar) from Google, GitHub, or Discord when using social login
• Forum posts and comments
• Chat messages sent to the Librarian interface
• Voting selections

2.3 Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

• Essential cookies: Required for authentication, session management, and site functionality. These cannot be disabled.
• Preference cookies: Store your theme selection and readability preferences in localStorage.
• Analytics cookies: If enabled, used to understand aggregate site usage patterns. You may opt out of analytics cookies via the cookie consent banner.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — Authentication and database services. Your account data is stored in Supabase's infrastructure. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic — Chat messages sent to the Librarian are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. Messages are sent in real-time and not stored by Anthropic beyond the API request lifecycle. See Anthropic Privacy Policy.
• YouTube (Google LLC) — Video content embedded on this site is served by YouTube. Interaction with embedded videos is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• OAuth Providers (Google, GitHub, Discord) — If you sign in via a social provider, we receive only basic profile information (name, email, avatar URL). We do not access your contacts, repositories, or other account data.

4. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used for the following purposes:

• Providing and maintaining the site's functionality
• Authenticating your identity and managing your account
• Displaying your username on forum posts and comments
• Processing votes and community participation
• Enforcing content moderation policies (automated and manual)
• Rate limiting to prevent abuse
• Improving site performance and user experience
• Responding to support requests

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. Data may be disclosed only if required by law, court order, or to protect the security of the site.

5. AI-Powered Content Moderation

Forum posts, comments, and usernames may be screened by an automated AI moderation system powered by Anthropic's Claude API. This system evaluates content for violations of our Acceptable Use Policy and assigns severity ratings. Content flagged as high severity may be automatically hidden pending human review. The moderation system is designed to be context-aware and will not flag in-universe horror fiction language that is consistent with the archive's genre.

6. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Forum posts and comments are retained as part of the community record unless you request deletion. Chat messages with the Librarian are not permanently stored — they exist only for the duration of your browser session. Anonymous user sessions with no activity may be periodically cleaned up.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Request access to your personal data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to erasure")
• Object to processing of your data
• Request data portability
• Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing

8. Children's Privacy

Godweight is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Security

We implement reasonable security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure authentication via Supabase, row-level security on database queries, and rate limiting on API endpoints. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the site following changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
